How many times have you listened to this or how many times have you told this to someone?
It is not helpful to you or the people around you when these statements are said either directly or subtlety.
We do this in meetings to stick to tried and tested.
We tell children not to ask questions (cause we actually don’t know the answer)
We tell adults stop asking “stupid” questions.
It is easy to say this statement when “the person saying” has forgotten how creative they were when they were young or when they tried to catch the bus with hands fully loaded with bags and maybe even trying to sneak in a letter to their loved ones.
Remember, you were creative too. Reflect and nurture the creativity forward.
